Porelon gel is a PVC-based plastisol blended with proprietary ink formulas. The unique marriage of the ink and resin yields a synergistic printing solution that is more than the sum of its parts.
This patented technology, originally envisioned to be used with floor wax by the S.C. Johnson Company in Racine, Wisconsin, was an unexpected success when used with oil-based inks. When molded, the resulting product is a smooth, strong flexible gel with a microscopic network of pores.
Our Product Development team can engineer and formulate Porelon gels for a wide variety of applications by carefully blending different molecular weight and particle-sized resins to modify strength, flexibility and porosity. Gels can be produced in a variety of indelible colors.
Porelon molded gels are an excellent choice for reliable, high-quality, low maintenance and low-cost printing applications. Inks are comprised of non-volatile solvents and vehicles that will not dry out. Gel inks are best suited for printing on porous or semi-porous substrates such as corrugated boxes, paper, fabrics, lumber — any surface that will absorb the ink.
This patented technology has produced quality printing solutions for stamping, bar codes, carton marking, fingerprinting and lumber marking for almost 40 years.
• Corrugated carton marking
• Pre-inked hand stamps
• Archival financial document printing
Porelon molded gels are available as rolls with outside diameters from 0.84″ to 6.0″, and in lengths up to 15-18″. Standard colors are black, red, blue, violet and green with some specialty colors/custom colors available by request. They are also available in 10″ x 17″ slabs in 0.187″ and 0.250” thicknesses, and we can cut the slabs to any configuration by waterjet.
Porelon products contain no heavy metals and are certified to be RoHS and CONEG compliant. Our products are HAPs free (Hazardous Air Pollutants) and low in VOCs. We utilize “green” materials such as soya oil and naturally-derived oleic acid wherever possible. Identity Group is REACH-registered and represented by ENVIRON as its Only Representative.
